Saturday night television has forced into watching the music channels on Sky.
What is music at the moment? I’m not asking what it’s become, because that implies that I thought it used to be better. I think. Gimme a break, I’ve had a headache all day.
Anyway, music (on music channels at least) is so very insipid. There seems to be a huge lack of creativity in the industry. Every song I’ve seen today seems to boil down to a repetitive, droning beat with lyrics that have no meaning, or are even remotely interesting. Why should I care that he was a “sk8r boi” or that you don’t need “no good advice”. Tell me something I don’t know. Tell me something that will make me think, or even something that I wasn’t aware of before. Anything but random words scattered against chords.
Anyone can make noises with their throats to a tune.
